VANCOUVER -- Veteran kicker Paul McCallum was re-signed on Thursday by the B.C. Lions.

McCallum was named the CFL's Most Outstanding Special Teams Player in 2011 after making 30 consecutive field goals with a 94.3 per cent success rate overall.

"Paul has been one of our most consistent and dependable players since coming here in 2006,'' vice-president of football operations and general manager Wally Buono said in a statement. "He has been one of the very best at his position and this is a very important signing for the club.''

The five-foot-11, 185-pound kicker/punter has played in the CFL for 19 seasons, eight in B.C.

"Special teams, whether it's the return game, field goals or kickoff coverage, all are critical to our success on the field and I'm very pleased Paul will be returning,'' said head coach Mike Benevides in the same statement.
